Post Trip Rambling and a Rating System

Y'all. I am tired. I mean I. Am. Tired. I'm talking pooped, exhausted, spent, stick a fork in me, I'm done. Which leads me to my trip rating system. How did I jump from tired to a trip rating system? Well, I'm glad you asked. Several years ago on a drive home from a week spent in Key West, we devised a 3 question rating system to evaluate whether your trip was a success. Yes, we have those kinds of conversations on long car rides. Just us? Anywho. I thought it would be worth sharing. I'll rate our most recent trip so you can see how it works.

So we just got back from a 7 day trip through 6 states. I'll do a full trip blog post on the trip later when I have recovered. See above for details about my current state of being. Which brings me to question #1:
1) Are you tired? I don't just mean a little sleepy. I mean bone tired left it all on the dance floor tired. I'm talking what day is it, where am I, what time is it tired. If your answer is yes, then you had a great trip. It's my theory that as your trip enjoyment increases so does your level of exhaustion. Also, this gives you an idea of how we travel. I know many people travel to relax, but we find ourselves looking, seeing, doing all the things. All. The. Things. Which brings me to #2

2) Are you broke? Not physically, not emotionally, but cash poor. Did you crash your vacation stash, blow through your budget or spend the dollars declared for your trip? Did you stimulate the local economy of wherever you chose to roam? Did you do the fun things and buy the t-shirt to prove it? Then yep, you had a great vacation. It's fun to pick up souvenirs from your travels or spend money on excursions/experiences. We collect Christmas ornaments from our adventures and have a separate small tree just for these ornaments. It's fun to bring them out every year and remember the trips we've taken. I also enjoy a good coffee cup from places we visit. My current favorites are from Cuyahoga National Park and Babcock state park, both happen to be in West Virginia, a state I really love. I also have a cool one I love from a pizza place in Frisco, NC. We are always trying local foods and beverages when we visit new places. Now, we are not foodies by any means but we usually find local breweries and coffee shops wherever we roam. And if you've seen my Instagram you know about the blackberry biscuit. There was also a giant bacon wrapped tater tot in Cleveland, more on that another day. Which brings me to #3.

3) Are your pants a little tight? Is the scale up a few numbers? If so then ,yep, great trip! Eat all the foods, drink all the drinks and live to tell about it. I don't like to worry about calories on
vacations/trips, that ruins the whole vibe. Live a little and don't stress about a few well deserved and happily earned vacation pounds. It's all good. Especially those blackberry biscuits.

Well, there you have it. Our 3 question rating system for evaluating your vacation. Tired? Broke? Is there more of you coming back home? Then your trip/vacation/getaway was a complete success. Now, if you'll excuse me I'm going to go unpack a couple of Christmas ornaments and take a nap, where I'll probably dream about those darn blackberry biscuits.
